Pascal was born in 1969 out of an act of liberation [0]. In more than one
sense. Confronted with the duty to teach programming, I had been faced with
the dire options of Fortran and Algol. The former did not appeal to my taste
as a scientist, the latter not to those of the practical engineer. I
