    i 3G jest niepotrzebne:
    http://seekingalpha.com/article/49988-why-apple-s-ip
    hone-doesn-t-need-3g
    w wykonanu akcjonariusza Apple
oraz kilka soczystych cytatów wprost z jego eminencji Dżobsa:
"Companies have spent a lot of money building these 3G networks, but they
don't have the consumer devices to really use them. Jobs says today's
cellphones deliver a "baby Internet" experience. Presumably, iPhone will
    deliver the "big-boy Internet" experience."

"Why is the iPhone a 2 1/2 G phone when 3G is available? Jobs doesn't seem to
think 3G is necessary. He touts an iPhone Wi-Fi detection feature that
alerts users to available hot spots. He says Wi-Fi is proliferating and
    it's "way faster than 3G"

"The dual-mode, WiFi-and-EDGE nature of the iPhone is touched on, including
future capabilities like VoIP. The two also discuss the relationship
between Apple and AT&T, hint at some upcoming iPhone features (ringtones),
and also discuss the much-maligned EDGE. As they point out, while EDGE is
theoretically pretty fast and pretty prevalent, it does have some
shortcomings. Those shortcomings are the reason for WiFi; you can hop onto
a WiFi network for bandwidth intensive tasks, and use EDGE everywhere else
    for things like email.

Speaking of EDGE, according to recent reports about EDGE speed boosts,
Steve may not have as much to be upset about after all. As Stephenson said
in the article, the theoretical maximum speed of EDGE is over 300kbit/sec,
which is pretty decent. AT&T's EDGE has historically been much slower than
that (40-50kbit/sec), however. In the last few days, though, users across
the country have been seeing speeds of over 200kbit/sec, a nice jump before
the iPhone launch. I can't find a speed test that works with my phone, but
EDGE does seem to be a bit snappier than it was before. It's unclear
exactly why the speed boost occurred, but the prevailing theory is that
it's all part of an AT&T plan to reconfigure EDGE before the iPhone launch.
Those new speeds are pretty impressive, so if they continue to hold it
should make your browsing later tonight a whole lot more pleasant."
