Choć nie, z tego co piszą w manualu Dataram Ramdiska, będzie można wykorzystać
więcej!
cyt.:
The use of memory above the 4GB barrier is supported under 32-bit versions of
Windows XP, Windows 2003 Standard Server, Windows Vista, and Windows 7.
Może wkleję całość, bo widzę, że to może być dla Was interesujące:
You will only see the Advanced tab if (a) you are running a 32-bit version of
the Windows OS that is limited to 4GB of system memory, (b) your system has more
than 4GB of physical memory installed and (c) your system has Physical Address
Extensions enabled and (d) the BIOS on your system supports the Windows
Management Instrumentation calls that allow Windows to enumerate the physical
memory installed on your system. The latter is true of most modern hardware.
Specifically, it requires the use of the Window Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL)
"Halaacpi.dll", which is the Windows ACPI HAL with IO APIC support. Vendor
specific HALs are not supported. In addition, the system BIOS must make the
necessary information about the installed system memory available for the
CIM_PhysicalMemory class to be created.
Ordinarily RAMDisk requests disk memory from the operating system, much like any
other program. This tab can enable a feature of RAMDisk that will allow you to
utilize unused memory above the 4GB limit for 32-bit versions of Windows, memory
that is not being used by the operating system but is available to your
hardware. This feature is not available for 64-bit versions of Windows because
they do not have a 4GB memory limitation. Please not that some versions of
Windows (for example, Windows 2003 or 2008 Server Enterprise) support the use of
Physics Address Extensions in the kernel and the Windows kernel can access
memory above 4GB. You will not see the Advanced Tab when using RAMDisk under
these operating systems because RAMDisk can access all system memory normally
through the Windows kernel. The use of memory above the 4GB barrier is supported
under 32-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows 2003 Standard Server, Windows
Vista, and Windows 7.
The Advanced tab shows you how much memory RAMDisk has detected above the 4GB
limit which is unused by 32-bit Windows. With RAMDisk you can use this memory
instead of Windows system memory, making optimal use of all the memory available
to your system. The Advanced tab will show you how much physical memory is
available, how much is used by Windows and your system hardware, and how much is
potentially available to RAMDisk.
Special Note for VMWare and VirtualBox Users: As noted above, the use of the
advanced features of RAMDisk on a 32-bit OS require the Windows ACPI HAL with IO
APIC support. This is the default HAL under VMWare, and this feature will work
properly under VMWare virtual machines. Under VirtualBox the default virtual
hardware does not include the IO APIC. This can be changed in the virtual
machine settings before installing the operating system, but the VirtualBox BIOS
does not support the creation of the necessary WMI classes to allow RAMDisk to
detect the additional memry above 4GB.
